November 12 Reading Offers a Glimpse of Tompkins County During World War I

                Thursday, November 1, 2018

As Tompkins County this Veterans Day commemorates the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the County¡¯s new Historical Commission will present a reading of historical documents from 1918, focusing on what Tompkins County residents experienced during what was then known as ¡°The Great War.¡±

¡°The Great War: Tompkins County in World War I,¡± will be presented Monday, November 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the BorgWarner Community Room East of the Tompkins County Public Library, 101 E Green Street, Ithaca.

The reading will consist of letters and newspaper editorials from 1918, when Tompkins County men and women went to war. The materials were compiled by County Historian Carol Kammen, and presenters will include members of the Historical Commission. Members of the audience will be invited to participate.

This event is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact County Historian Kammen at ckk6@cornell.edu or the Library¡¯s Local History Librarian Meghan at mmolloy@tcpl.org
